Valentina Gallo is an Rosalind Franklin Associate Professor and teaches the following courses:

  • Planetary Health
  • Global Equity and Resilient Health Systems
  • Worldwide Analyses of Global Health Issues

About Valentina

"Dr. Valentina Gallo is a Rosalind Franklin Fellow and Associate Professor in Epidemiology and Sustainable Health. She is the Director of the Department of Sustainable Health and she passionate about participatory and innovative teaching. She is designing a MSc programme in Sustainable Health to be held at Campus Fryslân.

Valentina teaches Planetary Health, exploring the complex intertwining relationships between the health of population and of the planet we live in. She is a passionate environmental sustainability advocate and she is convinced that environmental activism is an essential component of public health and is a matter of social justice.

Valentina has a background as a medical doctor (clinical neurology) and a training in epidemiology. She also teaches the course Worldwide Analyses of Global Health Issues where students apply basic epidemiological skills in conducting an ecological analysis relevant to global health."
