I’m an atmospheric scientist; my key interests are in studying emissions, transport, mixing, chemical evolution and deposition of various trace gases and particles in the Earth's atmosphere. I use science-based mechanistic models of the atmosphere that simulate atmospheric dynamics, thermodynamics and chemistry simultaneously as my primary tool, in conjunction with satellite and ground observations. My research interests include weather forecasting, air quality prediction, air pollution source apportionment, the impact of meteorology on air pollution as well as the impact of air pollutants on weather and climate. I'm also interested in data-driven approaches to earth system modelling.

I hold a bachelor degree in civil engineering from BIET-Jhansi, India, an MS (by research) degree in Environmental Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India and a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from Lancaster University, UK. During my PhD, I worked on modelling of winter haze episodes in China and their mitigation through short-term emission controls. I evaluated past emission control strategies in Beijing and built an automated air quality forecasting and control policy framework. Prior to joining Campus Fryslan, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Centre for Climate and Air Pollution Studies (C-CAPS), NUI-Galway, Ireland where I worked on high-resolution emission inventory mapping and air quality simulations for UK-Ireland region focusing on residential peat burning in Dublin and also the effect of COVID lockdown on pollution levels in Ireland.
