Financial Aid

At University College Fryslân, we understand that studying at university can be a costly experience. Depending on your personal circumstances, there are several funding options available which may help finance your university career.

1. Grants/scholarships

There are several grants and scholarships available to help cover your study costs. Search for grants through the University of Groningen or Nuffic websites.

2. For Dutch students: Studiefinanciering

If you are under the age of 30 and are registered in full-time or dual education at university level, you can apply for student finance. This student grant, paid by the Dutch government, is a monthly loan provided to assist you financially with your studies. You must be a Dutch national or have the same rights, depending on your residence permit or your nationality. For more information, please consult

3. For non-Dutch EU/EER students: Student Grant

As an EEA student you are allowed to take up a part-time job in the Netherlands. If you (or your non-Dutch EEA parent or partner) work more than 56 hours a month you may be eligible for a student grant from the Dutch government. For more information please consult

4. For non-Dutch EU/EER students only: Tuition Fee Loan/Collegegeldkrediet

If you are an EU/EER student and not eligible for a student grant from the Dutch government you can apply for a loan or a contribution towards the payment of your tuition fee. This is called 'Collegegeldkrediet' and the loan will be paid directly into your bank account in monthly installments. If you want more information about Collegegeldkrediet.
