The Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Transition (CDLT) has placed 9th in Trouw's Duurzame 100 ("Sustainable 100"), in the Science & Education category. Each year, the list highlights the people and organisations making the Netherlands more sustainable.

The centre brings scientific research and farming practice together, with attention to the ecological, economic and social sustainability of agriculture. Researchers and farmers work together on solutions that can be applied on the farm.

We are happy and proud that our work has been noticed. There is only one planet on which we can live sustainably, and making agriculture future-proof is an important lever in that. Together with farmers, partners and researchers, we work on this every day, and this listing is a lovely confirmation that we are on the right track.-- Gjalt de Jong, directeur CDLT

Guiding 1,000 farmers towards regenerative agriculture

Through ReGeNL, the National Growth Fund programme aiming to accelerate the transition to regenerative agriculture, CDLT coordinates the project to guide 1,000 farmers in their transition to more regenerative farming. CDLT also conducts research into new revenue models, system change, knowledge infrastructure, landscape change, farmer logic and behavioural change for the sustainable agriculture transition. In this way, research knowledge is translated directly into practice on the farm.

Recognition of collaboration

According to CDLT, the listing is above all a recognition of the collaboration with farmers, researchers and other partners.

A transition can only succeed when all parties work together. That is why we are committed to acting as a bridge between scientific knowledge and practice, and we work together with supply chain partners and governments,-- Ingrid van Huizen, programma manager at CDLT

About CDLT

About ReGeNL

ReGeNL is a national programme that supports farmers in the transition to regenerative agriculture, an approach that combines food production with the restoration of soil, biodiversity and climate. These include leading cooperatives, networks and research institutions such as FrieslandCampina, Cosun, Agrifirm, Rabobank, Wij.land, De Plaatsen, BoerenNatuur, CSA Netwerk, Toekomstboeren, the University of Groningen, Utrecht University, Wageningen University & Research, ZLTO and Staatsbosbeheer. The programme is funded by the National Growth Fund. For more information: ReGeNL.
