Open courses at Campus Fryslân

As a University of Groningen student, you may be able to take a Campus Fryslân course as an elective, without paying an additional course fee.

Students enrolled at another Dutch higher education institution may be able to take a Campus Fryslân course as a subsidiary course student.

If you are not enrolled as a regular student at the University of Groningen or another Dutch higher education institution, you may be able to take a course as a contract student.

As a contract student, you follow the course alongside our regular students without enrolling in a full degree programme. Registration takes place per course. Please note that access to courses, particularly advanced-level courses, is confirmed after a review of your educational background. This helps us ensure that you meet the relevant prerequisites and are well prepared to successfully participate in the course(s).

1. Complete the relevant authorisation form

Choose the form that corresponds to the course you would like to take:

• Data Science & Society authorisation form

• Global Politics & Sustainability authorisation form

• Master's courses authorisation form

2. Register as a contract student

Once you have completed the authorisation form, submit your application through the digital registration form. You will also be asked to upload the required supporting documents.

Entry requirements differ per course. Please note that access to courses, particularly advanced-level courses, is confirmed after a review of your educational background. This helps us ensure that you meet the relevant prerequisites and are well prepared to successfully participate in the course.

The course fee depends on the programme the course belongs to. For the academic year 2026–2027, the fees are:

• Data Science & Society: €233 per ECTS

• Global Politics & Sustainability: €287 per ECTS

• Master's courses: €370 per ECTS

You can cancel your registration by contacting the Campus Fryslân Educational Secretariat at cf-sec rug.nl.

Cancellations within one business day before the start of the course entitle you to a refund of the course fee, excluding the €50 administration fee.

In case a course has too few participants (approximately five or less) Campus Fryslân holds the right to cancel a course. You will be informed by the CF educational secretariat in due time in case a course will not be offered.

After completing the course, your grade and the corresponding study load in ECTS will be registered in Progress.

You can request a certified document stating your grade and study load from the Campus Fryslân Educational Secretariat.

Brightspace
Brightspace is the online learning environment containing your course materials and information.

Ocasys
Ocasys is the system where you can view your course registration.
