Kristóf Csölle
Kristóf Csölle completed both the Bachelor’s degree programme in Psychology and the Bachelor’s in Philosophy of Cognitive Science cum laude, with average marks of 8.4 and 8.8 respectively. He did this at the same time as following the Honours College programme. He is currently in his first year of the Research Master’s programme in ‘Behaviour and Social Sciences’, for which he wants to specialize in psychology within environmental sciences. He was awarded a particularly high mark of 9.5 for one component of the Research Master’s programme (an essay on the sustainable use of Artificial Intelligence as part of the ‘Theorizing Change’ course unit).
Kristóf is particularly interested in the effects of climate change, specifically the political reactions and public behaviour they evoke. He thinks he could play an important role in this respect by clarifying the scientific vision of this phenomenon. This realization was the subject of his very well-structured pitch. During the discussion, he clearly demonstrated a profound knowledge of his subject and an ability to reflect critically upon it. Kristóf was nominated by two members of faculty staff, both of whom wrote highly positive letters of recommendation from an entirely different perspective.
He is an active student assistant, helping to implement various EU-funded projects, and also a teaching assistant, teaching various groups of students. In addition to his excellent marks and work as a student assistant, Kristóf has shown his broad-based involvement with the University in various other ways. He is an active member of the GSB and Calimero student parties, and was elected first to the Faculty Council, and later to the University Council. Despite leaving the Faculty Council, he is still involved in the Council’s work through his seat on the advisory council of the student section.
As expressed in the letters of recommendation, Kristóf leaves his mark through a ‘willingness to go the extra mile, his sharp ability to grasp and analyse complex concepts in a cohesive manner, and his inquisitive nature’. The jury of the GUF-100 agrees wholeheartedly with this characterization of him.
