Greta Grossek

Greta Grossek is on track for an Honours predicate (summa cum laude) for her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a Minor in Development Studies. She is also following the Honours Programme, and is an active member of the VIP study association for psychology and the Erasmus Student Network (ESN).

Her academic interests lie in both intercultural psychology and child and adolescent psychology. As a means of combining these two fields of interest, she is taking an extra course on youth interventions at the University of Amsterdam. As part of this course, she is writing an article about scientifically founded interventions for culturally sensitive, trauma-related problems in young refugees.

She spent 10 months working as a volunteer in childcare in Israel, and during last year's COVID-19 lockdown, she added to her knowledge by following a MOOC on children’s human rights given by the University of Geneva.

Greta thrives in research, working as a research assistant on two projects focusing on the influence of language on the way that newcomers integrate into Dutch society. This will also be the subject of her Bachelor’s Honours research project. Greta is keen to do a placement at UNICEF in Cologne, working in the department that deals with the rights of the child. After graduating with her Bachelor’s degree, she will start the international Erasmus Mundus Master’s programme on Education Policies for Global Development (GLOBED).

Greta describes herself as a hard-working, dedicated student, who achieves excellent study results. But according to the jury, it is her high level of social engagement that really makes her stand out. Her convincing pitch was all the proof that they needed.
