Van der Meer-Boerema Foundation honors four research grants

08 November 2016

Through the Ubbo Emmius Fund of the University the Van der Meer-Boerema Foundation has awarded scholarships to four Medicine students. This additional funding will give them the opportunity to perform a specific oncological research or experiment.

JSM

The winners of the research grants are Medicine students who - within the socalled Junior Scientific Masterclass (JSM) program - combine their regular study with scientific research.

Medical research often takes a lot of money. There is limited funding available for the research projects of the JSM scholars. For special experiments or equipment, they are dependent on extra bench fee. The Ubbo Emmius Fund raises funds annually, among alumni and relations to raise money for this bench fee. The Van der Meer-Boerema Foundation in addition, supports JSM students in the field of oncology.

This year, four students receive a research grant from the foundation. In total an amount of 35,600 euros. Next week, the scholarships will be awarded during a special ceremony, where the students will give a short presentation.
