Groningen Museum: a work of art in itself
A work of art in itself, Groningen Museum was designed by Allessandro Mendini, with guest architects Philippe Starck, Michele de Lucchi, and Coop Himmelblau. The design reflects the architecture’s rejection of traditional hierarchies and his belief in the interweaving of disciplines; a view continued in the exhibitions, where art-historical style, exotic cultures, and kitsch are equally important, and theatre, painting sculpture and architecture and science are used freely and interchangeably.
