Dr J.A. Voerman - Faculty of Economics and Business
Liane Voerman studied Economics at the University of Groningen from 1990 to 1995. She has been working at the Department of Marketing and Marketing Research since 1996, first as a PhD student, then as a lecturer. Her dissertation concerned the international strategic behaviour of smaller firms.
Voerman’s goal is to teach students the theoretical background of marketing issues and how to apply them in practical situations. She tries to communicate the relevance and fun of marketing and marketing research. Many students think she succeeds at this, and appreciate her energy. One student: ‘Mrs Voerman did a great job in making the course interesting. Her slides had all the obligatory info. Moreover, she was a very good speaker. Her lectures were very clear and lively. The lectures really gave the course something extra.’ Another student: ‘Mrs Voerman’s lectures were very interesting, and she explained the theory very well by making it clear how the tests work, by explaining it in “grandpa language” and making it more visible.’ A third student: ‘I really liked professor Voerman. She made the topics really interesting by referring to daily problems and situations.
