University elections results 2026

The votes have been counted and the results of the University elections are in!

Elections were held for the student sections of the UG University Council and the Faculty Councils. All parties campaigned at University buildings once again by handing out flyers and chatting with students. 7,321 out of 31,227 students cast a vote for the University Council. A turnout of 24.4%. That is 3% less than in 2025 (26.4%). 

The University Council

The University Council is the central consultative participation body of the UG, consisting of 24 seats. One half of the Council comprises UG staff members and the other half are student members. 

As from 1 September 2026, the distribution of student seats will be as follows:

  • List Calimero: 6 seats (1 more than 2025)
  • SOG: 4 seats (1 less than 2025)
  • De Vrije Student: 2 seats (equal to 2025)
