FNV trade union organizes nationwide rally on 8 September in The Hague
On 8 September, the FNV trade union is organizing a nationwide rally in The Hague to protest against the announced cuts to social security and healthcare. Various FNV sectors will come together on that day to protest.
The rally will take place exactly one week before Prinsjesdag, when the annual budget and the national budget are presented to the House of Representatives. The rally starts at 11.30 a.m. All the information can be found on the FNV website. You can register there, even if you are not a member. Free coach transport is available for registered participants.
Would you like to take part? Please bear the following in mind
Staff at the University of Groningen are free to decide for themselves whether they wish to take part in the demonstration, even if they are not members of the FNV. No pay will be deducted from staff who take part in the demonstration. However, we do ask you to inform your manager if you are taking part. The Board of the University considers it important that examinations, PhD ceremonies and other ceremonies can go ahead and asks lecturers to take this into account. Where possible, arrange for a replacement or ensure that the hours students miss are made up.
