Podcast episode on security campus: 'A resilient society starts with yourself'

15 April 2026

We are living in times of geopolitical tensions. That is why universities want to address the issues of security and resilience. The University of Groningen is involved in the security campus (Veiligheidscampus) in Assen. In the latest episode of RUG & Co, the focus is on this collaboration.

Our guests are Sipke de Hoop, project lead for the security campus and senior lecturer in Contemporary History at the University of Groningen, and Mijke Boedeltje, strategist at the Municipality of Assen. In this episode, we discuss exactly what the security campus is, recent developments and the plans for the near future. We also take a look at the ongoing discussion regarding collaboration with the Ministry of Defence. This and, of course, much more in this latest episode of RUG & Co.

Listen to the episode on the Veiligheidscampus from Wednesday 15 April.
