Video: Aletta Jacobs Prize and College Tour with Elanor Boekholt-O’Sullivan
On Friday 6 March, Minister Elanor Boekholt-O'Sullivan received the Aletta Jacobs Prize from Rector Magnificus Jacquelien Scherpen. She received the award for her many years of commitment to equality within the Ministry of Defense. State Secretary Judith Tielen contributed to the ceremony with a call for emancipation, and Professors Janka Stoker and Marieke Liem gave speeches entitled ‘Role models against one's will’ and ‘More than bruises’.
The evening before, Boekholt-O'Sullivan was also a guest at the Academy Building. In a lecture tour setting, she spoke with students about her new job as a minister and looked back on her experiences within the Ministry of Defense, what shaped her personally, and why she set up Actie Aletta. Actie Aletta is a lecture tour of 16 educational institutions, organized following her receipt of the Aletta Jacobs Prize. Mayors, researchers, students, and experts from the Ministry of Defense engage in dialogue about how to prevent unsafe situations for women.
