Japanese distinction for UG ProfessorJanny de Jong
Prof. Janny de Jong, emeritus Professor at the University of Groningen, received the Japanese distinction Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette on 5 March. The decoration was presented at the Embassy of Japan in The Hague.
De Jong received the distinction in recognition of her many years of dedication to cooperation between Japan and the Netherlands in the field of higher education and research. Through her work, she has made an important contribution to strengthening academic relations between the two countries.
During the ceremony, Japanese Ambassador Rokuichiro Michii spoke highly of her commitment. Jouke de Vries, President of the Board of the University of Groningen, and former colleague Jodien Houwers also spoke during the gathering.
The Executive Board congratulates Janny de Jong on receiving this special distinction. The ceremony at the Japanese Embassy marked a festive moment celebrating many years of academic cooperation.
