Proud Moment for RUG at ENLIGHT Teaching & Learning Conference 2025!

We’re delighted to share that the HR Analytics course by Dr. Jacoba Oedzes and Dr. Stefan Berger received 3rd place at the ENLIGHT Teaching & Learning Award in Uppsala! This is a wonderful recognition of how thoughtful innovation can truly transform education.

The theme in Uppsala this year was "Playfulness for the Future of Higher Education," and Jacoba’s course really highlights that spirit: “We are truly honored to have received the third prize in the ENLIGHT Teaching and Learning Award for our course HR Analytics at the University of Groningen. This recognition means a lot to us, as it celebrates our effort to turn a subject that many students find daunting, data analytics and programming, into an engaging, supportive, and even enjoyable learning experience.” Jacoba summarizes after the event. She continues: “In HR Analytics, students learn to work with real-world data, tell stories with numbers, and experience the impact of data-driven decisions in a realistic organizational simulation.”

Reflecting on the experience of participating in the conference, she says that “the ENLIGHT Teaching and Learning Conference in Uppsala was an inspiring, active, and playful event, set in one of the most beautiful academic buildings we’ve seen. It was a great experience to share ideas with educators who are equally passionate about making learning both rigorous and human-centered.”
