The Inclusive Teacher wins ECIO Inclusion Award 2025

The University of Groningen e-learning project The Inclusive Teacher was awarded the jury prize by the Expertise Center for Inclusive Education (ECIO). Jan Riezebos, project leader, received the award from jury members Rianne Bieleman and Froukje van Gelder. They praised the scientific basis, practical focus, and broad applicability of the e-learning program, which helps teachers create inclusive education.
'It is a valuable recognition, also for the collaborative approach with lecturers and students and the scientific basis for development,' says Riezebos. The e-learning course The Inclusive Teacher offers a range of tools and tips to make student diversity a valuable asset, leading to more effective teaching and greater student success.
'The initiative makes knowledge sharing easy and accessible, allowing other institutions to put it to use immediately,' said the jury. The €5,000 prize money will be used to develop an additional app that supports inclusive group formation and enhances the practical applicability of e-learning.
With the Inclusion Award 2025 Election, ECIO provides a platform for initiatives that contribute to more inclusive education and a fair start in the labor market for young people with support needs. The election encourages the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in educational practice.
