Try out the public transport card (OV-chipkaart) for free
Between 2016-2021 roadworks will take place on the Ring Zuid in Groningen. To help decrease car traffic and to make people aware that public transport is a good or better alternative to traveling by car, the organization 'Groningen Bereikbaar' offers commuters the opportunity to try out the Dutch public transport card (OV-chipkaart) for three weeks. If you commute to work by car on a regular basis, then you can fill out the form on www.ov-check.nl. By filling in the form you can request the card which allows you to commute to work for free for three weeks. The form and additional information such as terms and conditions is only available in Dutch, but anyone who is interested can request the card. For more information, you can contact 'Groningenbereikbaar' at 050-316 43 70 (on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.) or info groningenbereikbaar.nl.
