Cheaper way to manage library holdings
It is easy to improve logistical processes in rental businesses with several locations, according to research by University of Groningen PhD student Gerlach van der Heide. Van der Heide has developed a new way for libraries to manage and distribute holdings, and concludes that logistics costs could be reduced by around thirty percent by better sharing of books between libraries. His proposals can aid the development of easily implemented systems for other rental businesses, producing clear improvements over current practice.
