Japan-Netherlands Student Conference

08 September 2011
Japan Delegation

During the annual Japan-Netherlands Student Conference, a group of about fifteen Japanese and Dutch students meet to discuss various topics of mutual interest. This year the conference will be in Groningen. Students from Osaka University in Japan and students from the Center for Japanese Studies of the University of Groningen will discuss the theme ‘Work to live? Live to Work?’

In addition to this main theme, the international group of students has chosen four subthemes: part-time work and unemployment, social life and work satisfaction, career choices for students and globalization within the business world.

For most of the Japanese students, this visit to the Japan-Netherlands Student Conference will be their first encounter with Europe. They will be particularly interested in hearing what Dutch students think about these themes, and vice versa, of course!

The Japan-Netherlands Student Conference will be opened on Wednesday 14 September with a keynote lecture by the Japanese Ambassador, H.E. Takashi Koezuka. In addition to the Student Conference, the Center for Japanese Studies will also be organizing an academic programme, with five guest speakers who will discuss themes of interest for students from both countries.

The conference will take place from Wednesday 14 September to Sunday 18 September 2011.
