Out now: the 2010 Annual Report

13 July 2011

The University of Groningen has grown in several respects in the past year. This conclusion can be drawn from the 2010 Annual Report, which was published this week.

The University’s growth is evidenced in various ways. For example, in the year under review the total number of students increased to about 27,500, some ten percent of whom come from abroad. The number of PhDs awarded increased by eight percent compared to 2009, to a total of 384. The income grew to EUR 576.2 million and the expenses to EUR 575.4 million.

Highlights

The Annual Report also highlights the news that in 2010 the Zernike Institute of Advanced Materials entered the global Top 10 of institutes working in the field of the materials of the future, a ranking list published by the renowned weekly Times Higher Education. In addition, a survey by Elsevier magazine shows that both Bachelor’s and Master’s students hold the teaching at the University of Groningen in great esteem, and according to two other surveys (by InCompany and Intermediair) the University is one of the best employers in the Netherlands.

The 2010 Annual Report can be found (in Dutch only) on www.rug.nl/jaarverslag. In addition to the regular Annual Report, the University also publishes a more descriptive public report in both Dutch and English, the Annual Review 2010 (Jaarbeeld 2010). This document is available on www.rug.nl/jaarbeeld.
