The complexity of collaboration in mental health systems

The complexity of collaboration in mental health systems
This thesis of Suzanne Kroon provides insight into perspectives and experiences regarding collaboration between professionals and organisations, and between patients, families and professionals within the therapeutic triangle. This collaboration has been examined from various perspectives (i.e. organisational, mental health and network care) and at national, regional and individual levels. It has examined how collaboration can contribute to the quality of life of people with mental health problems. It thus offers a broad perspective on the subject. Since 2018, care has been shifting from sheltered housing to supported living. This also has implications for social inclusion. Social inclusion faces barriers such as stigma and policy variation. A regional collaboration programme focused on the prevention of mental health problems demonstrates that collaboration does not happen automatically.
Finally, it appears that theory and practice diverge regarding the involvement of family members in recovery-oriented care, which sometimes leads to complex collaboration between patient, family and professional.
