Emergent dynamic behaviors in complex social and ecological systems

This thesis focuses on the study of dynamic behaviors of some classes of complex systems in sociology and ecology. In particular, we propose a co-evolutionary game-theoretic approach to model selected social and ecological systems that involves complex interactions among the constituents. In the co-evolutionary framework, it is considered that not only the strategies of the population are evolving, but also the games and  associated ecological or sociological properties are changing, which usually forms a bi-directional feedback therein.  This thesis is divided into two parts, where Part I concerns with the application of the co-evolutionary framework to ecological systems, and Part II is devoted to a co-evolutionary model in sociology.
