From Better-Worse to Drop-Down: Heading for a better method to measure health

Our team is devoted to developing a smart ePROMs (electronic Patient-Reported Outcome Measure) framework for measuring Health-Related Quality of Life. This is based on a modern measurement theory that has been developed by us in 2013, referred to as the multi-attribute preference response (MAPR) model.

Preference-based assessment is one of the key elements in our theory to get overall value for health state of individual patients. The Better-Worse task is commonly used as the preference-based assessment method in our ePROMs. However, the task is still a bit complex and we found other minor drawbacks of this method in our previous studies.

So, we are now putting up a new preference-based assessment method (Drop-Down) and implementing a new study to explore whether this new method is better.
