prof. dr. A.P. (Alexandra) Zhernakova
Since January 2012 I hold a Rosalind Franklin Fellowship (tenure track position) in Groningen University and have joined the Dept. of Genetics, UMCG. My major research lines include:
Investigation of changes in gene functioning (expression, methylation) with aging.
Immune senescence in relation to autoimmune diseases.
Gastrointestinal function in healthy and diseased individuals, and age-related changes in gut functioning.
Genetic predisposition to immune-related diseases (celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease) and functional consequences of associated variants.
