S. (Saeed) Ahmed, PhD

Biosketch

Saeed Ahmed is currently a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Systems and Control at the Engineering and Technology Institute Groningen (ENTEG), Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Groningen, The Netherlands. He is also affiliated with the Jan C. Willems Center for Systems and Control. Previously, he held postdoctoral positions at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, the Technical University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, and Bilkent University, Turkey. He received his Ph.D. degree from Inria Saclay, France, and Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, under the co-supervision of Dr. Frederic Mazenc, Prof. Micheal Malisoff, and Prof. Hitay Ozbay. From 2016 to 2017, he was a team member of the PHC Bosphore France-Turkey Project between INRIA Saclay, France, and Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey.  In 2018, he was awarded the overall best research presentation award in the category of Control/Robotics/Communications/Network at the IEEE graduate conference. His research interests include feedback optimization, passivity-based control and optimization of energy systems, observer design, nonlinear control, Lyapunov methods, input-to-state stability analysis, time delay systems, hybrid (switched and impulsive) systems, and robust control of biomedical systems. He has more than 25 international peer-reviewed journal and conference publications at top venues.

Research interests

Multi-energy networks, hybrid (switched and impulsive) systems, feedback optimization, passivity-based control, observer design, nonlinear control, Lyapunov methods, input-to-state stability analysis, time delay systems, and robust control of biomedical systems.
