1999-2005       BSc/MSc (Chemistry) University of Groningen (Netherlands); (dd/mm/yy): 01/09/2005

CURRENT POSITIONS

2019-               BiomACS B.V.; Founder & Scientific Advisor.

2018-               Associate Professor (UHD); W.J. Kolff Inst., Dep. BioMed. Engin., University Medical Center Groningen, University of Groningen.

2013-2018       Assistant Professor/Principal Investigator of Independent Research-Group: W.J. Kolff Inst., Dep. BioMed. Engin., University Medical Center Groningen, University of Groningen.

2013-Present   Affiliated Principal Investigator: Associated affiliation to Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Groningen.

CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS

2013-Present   Smart interfaces: Developing high-throughput technologies to investigate surface parameter dependent phenomena such as interfacial self-assembly and organization and cell-materials behavior. Create dynamic and smart interfaces to direct and control interface-drived phenomena.

Polymer hydrogels: Alternative complex hydrogel developments where multiple gel parameters are (temporo)spatially controlled through-out the network which allows to obtain new and sophisticated tunable and functional hydrogels. These systems rely on polymeric nanogels (microgels) and serve as (biomedical) nanomaterials and coating materials.

Polymer nanogels (microgels): create complex polymer nanohydrogel particles and incorporate novel chemical approaches such as dissipative assembly, dynamic covalent chemistry but also attribute new functions to them such as catalysis, scavenging & release, added manufacturing approaches (3D-printing), and programmability.

PREVIOUS POSITIONS

2011-2013       Alexander von Humboldt fellow: Macromolecular Materials and Interfaces, Aachen University (RWTH); DWI-Leibniz-Institute for Interactive Materials, Aachen, Germany.

2010-2011       Post-doctoral research: Macromolecular Materials and Interfaces, Aachen University (RWTH); DWI-Leibniz-Institute for Interactive Materials, Aachen, Germany.
