His current research revolves around the catalytic processing of all types of biomass residues, with a current focus on lignin and waste plastics. Here, he combines different types of catalysis and detailed chemical analysis to obtain upgraded oil mixtures, but preferably defined polymeric and monomeric compounds that can be used for novel bio-based applications.
