My research is situated at the intersection of Middle Eastern studies, religious studies, and terrorism studies. I have a broad interest in conflicts in the Middle East and have conducted extensive research on jihadist movements, including their ideology and religion, media use and propaganda, and violence and terrorism. I have also led several research projects on extremism in the Netherlands.
