Sept. 1993 - Dec. 1996: Birkbeck College, University of London and Institute of Food Research, Reading, UK; BBSRC funded Ph.D. studentship with Prof. Sir T.L. Blundell. CASE industrial studentship grant with Prof. R. Pickersgill and Dr. J.A. Jenkins (Institute of Food Research).

Jan. 1997 - Feb. 1999: Post-doctoral Research Associate with Prof. David Barford at the Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics, Oxford, UK.

Feb. 1999 – Sept. 2003: Post-doctoral Research Associate with Prof. Dr. Irmgard Sinning at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Heidelberg and at the Biochemie Zentrum Heidelberg, University of Heidelberg, Germany.

Sept. 2003 – Sept 2012: Independent Staff Scientist at EMBL Hamburg Outstation Germany with main responsibilities for beamline X13.

Oct 2012 - March 2013: Sabbatical at Center for Bioinformatics, University of Hamburg

Since April 2013: Assistant Professor at the Groningen Research Institute for Pharmacy, University of Groningen
