dr. M.A. (Marrit) Tuinman

I'm a social psychologist, specialized in psycho-oncology and health psychology. I work at the department of Health Psychology, in the lab of Prof. Mariët Hagedoorn, 'Intimate relationships in the face of illness'.My research is focused on differences in adaptation to cancer or other health challenges between single and partnered patients. I'm interested in whether single survivors differ from those with a partner with respect to  the support they receive, distress level, sexuality, self-esteem and body image. I also focus on whether a partner can be involved to help with a more healthy lifestyle (e.g. quitting smoking) and better quality of life.
