Dr Karim El Taki is an International Relations scholar at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Groningen. His research focuses on international order and Middle Eastern politics, examining how order is made and contested at regional and global levels. In particular, he studies quests for recognition and the production of ignorance as processes that shape international order. He previously held research positions at the European University Institute, Georgetown University Qatar, the George Washington University, and the Orient-Institut Beirut.
