drs. J. (Jeroen) van Engen
Jeroen van Engen studied Dutch language and culture at the University of Groningen and the University of Cambridge. After his graduation, he worked at the Dutch departments of the Universidad Complutense Madrid (Spain) and the Univerzita Komenskeho Bratislava (Slovakia). In 2004-2005 he was a lecturer in art and literature sociology at the department of Arts, Culture and Media of the University of Groningen.
From 2004, Jeroen van Engen specialised in Dutch as a second language. He worked both at the University of Groningen Language Centre as well as Maastricht University Language Centre. Between 2006-2010, he was course coordinator and teacher of Dutch at Maastricht University Language Centre and teacher of Dutch at the Ruhr Universität Bochum.
Jeroen van Engen works at the University of Groningen Language Centre since 2010. Besides teaching Dutch as a second language, he coordinates the online language courses programme. He is (and was) involved in various European and national projects on language education in higher education (SpeakApps and Magicc). He is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences about online language teaching, testing and CALL. Since January 2020, he is head of the department of modern foreign languages.
