J.G. (José Grabiel) Luis Cordova

José Grabiel Luis Cordova is Assistant Professor at the Groningen Centre of Energy Law and Sustainability (GCELS) and the Security, Technology and e-Privacy (STeP) Research Group since 2024. Associate researcher at the Private and Economic Law Group, Faculty of Law and Criminology, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) since 2018.
Luis Cordova developed a Joint PhD between the VUB, Belgium, and the Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas (UCLV), Cuba. His PhD research was focused on the Right to Energy and was successfully defended in 2024.
He has researched Energy Law and Policy, as well as Technology Law. His research has explored cybercrime, energy democracy, the food-energy nexus, energy consumer protection, the energy transition, the right to energy from human and fundamental rights perspectives, and energy poverty, among other related topics. He currently focuses on the legal dimension of the twin transitions (energy and digital), emphasising justice. This includes, but is not limited to, data protection and privacy, sustainable AI, and energy justice.
