prof. dr. F.A. Hindriks
Frank Hindriks (1974) studied philosophy and economics at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam (EUR). After receiving an MLitt. Degree in philosophy from the University of St. Andrews (Scotland), he became Assistant Director of the Erasmus Institute for Philosophy and Economics (EIPE). He defended his PhD thesis Rules and Institutions: Essays on Meaning, Speech Acts and Social Ontology at the EUR in June 2005. Subsequently he participated as a postdoctoral researcher in the VICI-project Modelling Freedom at the University of Groningen. In December 2007 he was awarded a VENI grant by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) for his research project Normativity in Action: A New Theory of Moral Responsibility. In January 2012 he became the head of the department of Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy. Since January 2014 he is Professor (adjunct hoogleraar) at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Groningen. Currently he is the vice-president of the International Social Ontology Society (ISOS). He is one of the founding editors of the Journal of Social Ontology. His papers have appeared in journals such as Erkenntnis, Philosophical Quarterly, and Philosophical Studies.
