I am a theoretical political sociologist investigating how institutions shape enduring psychological mechanisms that influence political behaviours and attitudes. My current research focuses on highly skilled Chinese migrants in Germany, analysing how early socialisation shapes intra-group relationships, political dispositions, media attitudes, and national identification that persist in democratic contexts. Drawing on sociology, political philosophy, psychology, and history, I develop theoretical frameworks bridging macro-institutional analysis with micro-level psychological processes.
My earlier anthropological research examined how migrant women's embodied experiences and affective memories sustain cultural continuity across generations.I specialise in qualitative methods including in-depth interviewing and multi-sited ethnography in China, Australia, and Germany.
Research expertise:
• Institutional Legacies
• Early Socialisation
• Values, Emotions & Institutions
• Political Integration
• Polarisation & Division
