Expertise
My interest is in social history. During my studies, I specialized in funerary epigraphy and iconography in Greece and the Greek East, from the Archaic to Late Roman/Early Christian period. In my PhD I focus on mortuary practices, particularly on commemoration practices and self-representation on funerary monuments in Hellenistic and Roman Thessaloniki (Greece), integrating textual, visual, and material aspects.
In the MARE project, I focus on the role of funerary monuments in commemorative rituals in Pisidia (Turkiye). Together with the MARE colleagues, we are also preparing an Open Access database of the materials brought together and studied for the project.
Side projects and interests include literary knowledge in funerary epigrams, nationalism in archaeology, and the way in which the use of language both shapes and limits the way we think.
