mr. dr. A. (Arpi) Karapetian

Arpi Karapetian is Assistant Professor of Private Law in the Faculty of Law at the University of Groningen. She holds a Research LL.M. (cum laude) in private law from the University of Groningen. In March 2019, Karapetian defended cum laude her doctoral dissertation titled ‘Bestuurdersaansprakelijkheid uit onrechtmatige daad. Civielrechtelijke en strafrechtelijke normen voor bestuurders van noodlijdende ondernemingen’ (Directors’ duties to creditors in the vicinity of insolvency). She was awarded the Wierenga-Rengerink Dissertation Prize 2019 from the University of Groningen. Her research interests concern i.a. director’s and liquidator’s liability, restructuring & insolvency in general and insolvency fraud. She is editor of the Tijdschrift voor Insolventierecht (the leading Dutch Journal for Insolvency Law) and the European Journal for Comparative Law and Governance.
