Dr. Anita Casarotto (PhD 2018, Leiden University, The Netherlands) is an archaeologist and postdoctoral researcher of the Groningen Institute of Archaeology of the University of Groningen and Associated Researcher of the KNIR Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome. She works in the project ' The impact of Roman imperialism in the West
: settlement dynamics and rural organization in Iron Age and Roman Portugal ', financed by the Regato Fund of the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds and coordinated by the PI, Prof. dr. Tesse D. Stek (GIA, KNIR). Her expertise focuses on GIS computer modelling in landscape archaeology, cultural heritage management in spatial planning, Mediterranean and Roman archaeology, legacy field survey data and settlement pattern analysis, open data and digital platforms for data sharing in the digital humanities. Her research activities and fieldwork concentrate in Italy and the Western Iberian Peninsula, especially in Portugal.
