Results

The distance between the respondent's dwelling and the wind turbine relates to the sound power levels received by the respondent outside the dwelling. In the report we assume that the sound power levels are of more influence than distance in the perception of wind turbines. Therefore, in the questionnaire respondents were divided into five groups, based on the incoming sound power levels.The division was as follows:

group 1: < 30 dBA
group 2: 30 - 35 dBA
group 3: 35 - 40 dBA
group 4: 40 - 45 dBA
group 5: > 45 dBA

Based on former studies on noise annoyance, and in particular on wind turbine noise, the factors which influence wind turbine perception were analysed. These factors comprise of, for example, stress, but also wind turbine visibility. These factors were analyzed using the questionnaire outcome. The most important finds are presented in the following pages.
