Want to send and receive files quickly, safely and easily? With SURFfilesender, you can send large files (max 500 GB) such as research data. SURFfilesender is also suitable for smaller files, such as reports. The files are stored in the Netherlands. Encryption offers extra security.
What is SURFfilesender?
Surffilesender is a service developed by SURF. Researchers, employees and students can send research data or confidential files safely and quickly with it.
For every file format
You will be able to send very large files containing details of their research such as genome sequences or astronomical observations. Besides that SURFfilesender is also suitable for smaller files such as reports.
Safe and reliable using encryption
With SURFfilesender, files are sent safely. The uploaded files are stored in the Netherlands for maximum 21 days. Although SURFfilesender is safe as it is, users are able to opt for extra security in the form of encryption. Files up to 250 MB can be send using encryption by sending the recipient a "key" via a second channel: telephone or SMS, for example. The recipient then enters this key, which allows him/her to download the file. In this way the user can determine who is allowed access to valuable research data or confidential files.
Fast and user-friendly
SURFfilesender is easy to use. You don't have to install anything in order to send and receive files. You only need a modern browser. SURFfilesender is connected to SURFconext, so that you can log in with your UG account . Guest access is also possible, to enable the safe exchange of files with individuals without a SURFfilesender licence.
