Make work of 5G - Science Weekend

On Saturday 2 October you will see the latest technical gadgets and applications with 5G in Hoogezand. Think of self-driving transport, virtual reality, robots and drones. A day full of demos, workshops and lectures.

During the public day 'Make work of 5G', the possibilities and opportunities of 5G, the latest generation of mobile communication, will be demonstrated. 5G makes very fast mobile internet possible. The event is part of the national Science Weekend. The public day in Hoogezand is organized by 5Groningen, an initiative of the Economic Board Groningen, in collaboration with partners. Entrepreneurs and organizations from the region demonstrate applications with 5G and there are presentations and workshops for young and old.

The public day will take place from 1 pm to 5 pm in and around Het Kielzog (Gorecht Oost 157) in Hoogezand. Everyone is welcome and entrance is free of charge.

All 10 partners of 5Groningen will be present and will make a substantive contribution during the public day on 2 October: KPN, Telecom Agency, VodafoneZiggo, TNO, Huawei Netherlands, University of Groningen, SURF, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, VMware and Dell Technologies.

Presentations, demos and workshops

Entrepreneurs and organizations give demonstrations of applications for agriculture, healthcare, traffic and everyday life. Learn more about 5G, antennas and robots, put on VR glasses, take a seat in a self-driving bus and admire the taxi drone and the smart safety vest for police officers.

Program for children and youth

Children and youth from 6 to 14 years old can continuously participate in fun activities from, among others, Biblionet Groningen, the Antennebureau and Agentschap Telecom. For example, they can program a robot, make something beautiful in 3D, build an antenna, take a look at the measuring bus and learn more about smart devices.

Of course, the corona measures that apply at that time are respected.
