Webclass Computing Science
Wired for Computing Science?
How do I save large files in a compact way? How do I encrypt my data? How easily is encryption cracked?
Test whether the bachelor Computing Science fits you with this free online 4-week online study programme offered by the Scholierenacademie of the University of Groningen. In this web class you experience - at home, from behind your own computer - the content, work forms and atmosphere of this bachelor programme. Our tutors are ready to provide you with personal feedback.
We are becoming increasingly dependent on computers, but they cannot work without us either! After all, someone has to tell them what to do. That requires people who enjoy devising ever-smarter solutions and innovations. Computing scientists design, improve and implement the software and computer systems that businesses and our social life cannot do without.
In this web class we give an introduction into computing science. We discuss challenges that are important in this digital world. Like what can be computed and what not? Can we actually compute everything that is theoretically computable before the last stars in the galaxy fade out? On a simulated computer we will also show you what happens in this machine. During the web class you will write some simple programs, but previous programming experience is not required.
- October 1st you can register again for the new round of web classes, which runs from November 4 to December 1, 2019.
- November 4 kick-off week 1 webclasses.
- November 11 start week 2 webclasses.
- November 18 start week 3 webclasses.
- November 25 start week 4 webclasses.
- December 1 finish webclasses.
