Our research group capitalizes on experimental and computational studies of the solution and solid-state reactivity, thermostability, electrochemistry, spectroscopy, and molecular magnetism characteristics of polyoxovanadates (discrete molecular vanadium-oxo clusters), which provides feedback for optimization of the synthesis with regards to the critical parameters of the envisioned molecular memristor (multiple-state resistive switching device that can mimic key synaptic features). This also mandates atomic control of substrate deposition processes of individual polyoxovanadates, to eventually enable analysis of their charge transport and redox switching properties via STM and spectroscopy techniques. Concept, properties of molecules, and recent results will be discussed.
