prof. V. Bulach : Molecular Tectonics based on Porphyrin Derivates: Chirality and Directionality

When:We 08-04-2015 15:00 - 16:00

Pursuing our approach of molecular tectonics based on porphyrin derivatives as tectons, we

have explored the possibility of designing enantiomerically pure solid state materials based on the porphyrin backbone. This type of solid state materials could be of interest for enantiomeric or distereoisomeric catalysis or for chiral separation. The preparation and structural characterization in the crystalline phase, by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, of chiral infinite Metal-Organic frameworks (MOFs) based on chiral porphyrins will be presented in the first part of the talk.

The second part of the talk will be devoted to the formation of directional networks, formed either in the crystalline phase or by physisorption on graphite surface. These assemblies result from the interaction of acentric porphyrins bearing two different coordinating sites with a suitable transition metal ion.
