Dirk Bouwmeester: Solid state cavity quantum electrodynamics

A solid-state cavity QED system will be presented that is formed by semiconductor quantum dots embedded in voltages controlled micropillar cavities. Sever schemes have been proposed to use such devices for high speed quantum communication and quantum computation applications. We will discuss the main ideas of some of those schemes and present results towards their experimental realizations.
