JACS Spotlight on self-assembled monolayers of Chiechi and Rudolf

In their recent JACS paper Ryan C. Chiechi and Petra Rudolf report on the influence of disulfides on monolayers. Often, self-assembled monolayers show heterogeneity on larger scales as they would be required for molecular electronics. With their recent work, Chiechi and Rudolf were able to show that free thiols can help to reduce heterogeneous disulfides to create a homogeneous, high-quality self-assembled monolayer. Their work is discussed in a JACS Spotlight by Lucas Laursen "A Golden Glimpse of Thorny Thiol Tunneling".
