Prof.dr. Christoph J. Brabec

Christoph J. Brabec is known for his pioneering work on plastic solar cells. For about 20 years he is one of the leading scientists in the field of organic semiconductors and photovoltaics. Brabec is currently full professor for Materials Science at the Friedrich-Alexander University Nürnberg-Erlangen (Erlangen, Germany). His research interests focuses on organic and hybrid semiconductors for optoelectronic devices and solar cell technologies.

Brabec will join our team on the research program on photovoltaics and optoelectronics from September 1st 2018 onwards. His Groningen research, hosted by the Loi group, targets at developing and introducing the concept of high-throughput materials research for opto-electronic, solution-processed adaptive material composites. The discovery and faster deployment of solution-processed adaptive semiconducting materials is expected to critically impact research areas like sensors, biological, electronic or energy materials. In Groningen combining expertise in computer science, modeling, automation and robotics will trigger the evolution of research concepts, which will go beyond the traditional concepts for material oriented research and development.
