Rules for obtaining a possible PhD-position
The Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials tries to offer a PhD-position to all successful graduates of the Top Master Programme in Nanoscience, but this is not guaranteed. The following criteria are used as guidelines in this decision:
- The MSc diploma has been obtained in the nominal programme duration of two years or less;
- The weighted average of the marks for all taught courses is at least 7.5;
- The weighted average of the marks for all elements of the programme is at least 7.5.
The weight applied in computing the averages is the ECTS-load of the course elements.
The potential PhD-position offered, is one of the existing positions; there is no guarantee that the successful applicant can define the topic of his/her choice. Also, the PhD-position may be at the bursary student level.
Until and including cohort 2010-2012, the institute guaranteed a PhD position for all successful graduates of the Top Master Programme in Nanoscience.
