My PPP-internship: Eveline Landheer (Sept. - Dec. 2015)
In Search for the Guadagni
In October 2015, my quest in uncovering the family history of the Guadagni of Florence began. Though their name was unknown to me at that time, I can now say that I know them better than my own family. With information and instructions handed to me by Prof. Van Veen, I started my research in this virgin territory. Using secondary literature and original sources brought me a long way in my investigation, but the most valuable proved to be the people I met at the institute. The other students and researchers present at the NIKI have often guided me in new directions and I have learned so much from their experience. To actually be present in the city where the history of the Guadagni family evolved, and to stand at the beginning of future research has made this internship a priceless experience for me.
